A literary and musical reading

Pina Bausch transformed dance and, with it, the way human beings are portrayed on stage: »I once said: I’m not interested in how people move, but what moves them. This sentence has been quoted many times – and it still holds true today.«

The reading brings together two voices: Through excerpts from a speech given on the occasion of receiving the Kyoto Prize, Pina Bausch reflects on her life, her work, and her search for a unique language on stage. These are juxtaposed with the memories of dancer Jo Ann Endicott. Together, they create a dialogue about an extraordinary artistic collaboration; about trust and devotion; about the desire to push boundaries; but also about exhaustion, doubt, and conflict.
